Yoga Nidra with Christina

November 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free – $30.00

Did you know that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is equal to 2 hours of sleep?

Join Christina Hodges, owner of Infusion Yoga and Spill the Tea Cafe, for this restorative practice.

Description: Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, typically induced by a guided meditation.

What happens during yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra allows you to access delta brainwaves, which are responsible for the healing and restoration that happens in your body during deep sleep. Activating delta brainwaves during yoga Nidra allows your mind and body to rest while you’re awake. Yoga Nidra also activates the pineal gland.

What is the purpose of yoga Nidra?
The most general description of the practice is that it combines guided mental imagery with a specific yoga posture called Shavasana (or “corpse pose”). The goal of yoga Nidra is to promote a profound state of relaxation, which differs from sleep since there is still an awareness of one’s surroundings.

What is yoga Nidra in simple words?
Yoga Nidra literally means “yogic sleep”. It is an ancient meditation technique where practitioners enter a deeper state of conscious relaxation, moving awareness from the external world to the internal.

What is the difference between meditation and yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a rejuvenating ‘sleep’ which relaxes the mind and bodily senses, promoting self-awareness in the process. Meditation is not practiced for relaxation, but rather to enter a highly conscious state where spiritual growth and awareness can begin.

When should you not do yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra can be practiced at any time, except right after eating, as you may be more inclined to fall asleep then. You may consider practicing in the morning, after asana or meditation, or before you go to sleep.

Yoga Nidra Benefits
Research has shown that yoga Nidra can help reduce stress, anxiety, and insomnia.

What do you wear to yoga Nidra & what do you bring?
When it comes to yoga tops, warm and comfy are the factors you want to look for in Yoga Nidra clothing. During this yoga practice, you will be focusing on your breath a lot. To be able to breathe freely, without an oppressive feeling, we recommend wearing yoga clothing that is not too tight. Please bring a yoga mat or let us know if you need to borrow one.

What happens after yoga Nidra?
After practicing Yoga Nidra, you may feel calm, relaxed, and drowsy, which can make it easier to fall asleep. You may also experience improved sleep quality and increased feelings of restfulness and well-being.
